Python Fundamentals

This course teaches the most fundamental concepts of the Python programming language. At the end of the course you will have an overview of the language syntax, program structure, and the most important data types that Python uses. You will be able to read and write files, use Python functions. You will also learn the fundamentals of using Python modules, which will allow you to tap into the vast wealth of readily available software created by the Python community. To prove your skills you may also take the course's final exam.

It is being used in all major areas of modern computing such as: task automation, web applications, data science, machine learning and artificial intelligence. So if you are a Knowledge Worker, developing your Python programming skills is one of the most valuable investment that you can do to advance your career.

Prior to the course, the participants will be invited to complete an on-line questionnaire.
This will be used to assess their prior understanding of general programming topics.
The course itself is an instructor-led virtual- or in-classroom course, with practical exercises and an optional final exam.

The course agenda:

Day 1:

• A short overview of Python.
• Language basics: create and run a program.
• Introduction to data type.
• Simple data types.
• Calculate and print results with Python.

Day 2:

• Branching and the for loop.
• Read in and process data from files.
• Introduction to functions and modules.
• Built-in functions and methods.
• A brief tour of the Python Standard Library.
